If There Is One Thing Conducting My First Interview Taught Me, It’s This.
I’ve been in a writing slump since my unwarranted break in April. Took some time off to focus on school while listing ideas as they came. When I finally had the time to write, these ideas didn’t seem good enough to make it into the drafting stage anymore. That also made me realise that I probably should have worked on these ideas sooner for them to not lose meaning to me. However, I think it’s also important to differentiate between that and if it was ever good enough to make it into the drafts. That’s a tough one to learn.
How Taking A Long, Unwarranted Break Helped Reinforce My Habit Building System
Just A Reminder: It’s Okay To Take A Break. I recently took a break from all writing activities since I have been feeling super burnt out. Writing has always energised me and made me happy. But then, the thought of writing anything overwhelmed me and stressed me out. I took 2 weeks off, including all editorial duties on Medium. I was then diagnosed with COVID. This made me realise that even if I hadn’t taken the break, my body would've forced me to take one. Before that period, I didn’t get to have a proper break as I’ve been continuously busy with school, work, and everything in between. With Medium and Substack writing being on top of everything. It’s also why I took May off on Substack and did not publish in May.
